Der ID.5 ist das erste SUV-Coupé der Wolfsburger und damit gewissermaßen ein Tiguan-Coupé mit Elektroantrieb. VW zeigt im Test, dass man durchaus weiß, wie man gute Elektroautos baut. Aber auch, warum es bei der Software noch viel zu tun gibt.
Fazit: ein modernes SUV-Coupé mit Lust auf Strom und Software-Schwäche
Das erste SUV-Coupé von VW verfügt über einen Elektromotor – vorerst eine gute Nachricht. Im besprochenen Segment ist es zudem noch stark ausgebrannt und räumlich eng. Anders beim ID.5: Er bietet nicht nur einen großzügigen Kofferraum, der vom Volumen her überraschend größer ausfällt als der scheinbar geräumigere ID.4. Allerdings begrenzt das schräge Heck die Höhe der Ladung. Auf allen Sitzplätzen ist ausreichend Platz für Passagiere. Wie so oft scheint das Platzangebot in diesem E-Auto von einem höherpreisigen Fahrzeug zu stammen.
Der ID.5 Pro Performance bietet eine Batteriekapazität von 77 Kilowatt – was zunächst eine hohe Reichweite verspricht. Allerdings stellt sich schnell heraus, dass das Wolfsburger Unternehmen in puncto Effizienz nicht mit Konkurrenten wie dem Tesla Model Y mithalten kann. Der hohe Spritverbrauch auf der Autobahn erschwert das Reisen mit dem Auto und die Ladeleistung war bisher auf 135 begrenzt kW, kann durch ein Software-Update zumindest erhöht werden. Dass es schon mit dem letzten Update gut funktioniert, hat VW gezeigt: Plug & Charge, also Laden ohne Karte oder Anwendung zücken zu müssen.
Allerdings gibt es Kritik an der Software, insbesondere beim Infotainmentsystem aus dem Modularen Infotainmentbaukasten. Wie derzeit bei allen anderen VW-Modellen ist auch die Sprachsteuerung furchtbar langsam und die Touch-Bedienung oft zu lahm. Man kann nur hoffen, dass VW die Defizite verkraften kann, denn der ID.5 ist ein perfekt abgestimmtes SUV-Coupé mit guten Fahreigenschaften und großem Komfort. Der Preis ist daher völlig wettbewerbsfähig.
Für wen ist der VW ID.5?
Suchen Sie ein aufregenderes Design als der Rest der VW-Familie? Dann steht ein SUV-Coupé wie der ID.5 ganz klar ganz oben auf der Liste. Trotz der ungewöhnlichen Form überzeugt das Auto dadurch, dass es sehr komfortabel und geräumig sein kann. Es wird Plätze für Familien mit bis zu zwei Kindern geben, aufgrund der Preise dürfte der ID.5 aber eher von Paaren gewählt werden, die gerne am Wochenende mit Freunden verreisen.

VW ID.5: Da kommt das erste SUV-Coupé aus Wolfsburg
Wie bei dieser Fahrzeuggattung üblich fährt sich das erste SUV-Coupé aus Wolfsburg souverän. Genau wie sein weniger sportlicher BruderID.4Der ID.5 bringt allerlei Design-Tricks mit: hier eine Perle, dort ein kleines Kissen. Cousins der FirmaSkoda Enyaq Coupé,Audi Q4 Sportbackund angekündigtCupra Tavascanpasst bei den jeweiligen Marken besser als der ID.5 zum Rest der VW-Familie. Selbstbewusste Optik mit stolzer Seitenlinie, kontrastierenden Säulen, großem Glasdach und tollen LED-Lichtgrafiken vorne und hinten passen gut zu diesem Auto.
VW ID.5: Abmessungen, Radstand, Anhängergewicht, Batterie
Elegante 21-Zoll-Felgen runden das Erlebnis ab. Sie geben aber auch Anlass zur Sorge, wenn man neuerdings einen 2,11 Meter breiten SUV inklusive Außenspiegel möglichst nah an den Bordstein manövrieren will, um möglichst viel Platz für vorbeifahrende Lkw und Busse zu lassen. Die großen Räder sehen nicht nur gut aus, sondern täuschen auch etwas über die Abmessungen hinweg: Im Datenblatt werden eine Länge von 4,60, ein Radstand von 2,77 Metern und eine Höhe von 1,61 Metern angegeben. Der über 2,1 Tonnen schwere ID.5 zieht bis zu 1.200 Kilogramm. Die Zahlen sind VW-Kennern bekannt: Sie gelten als neuer Standard im Elektrobaukasten des Konzerns und sind bereits in vielen Modellen zu finden.
Genauso wie der Akku: Die getestete Variante ID.5 Pro Performance, die seit rund einem Jahr auf dem Markt ist, bietet eine Akkukapazität von 77 Kilowattstunden (netto). EFAHRER konnte diese Angaben in einem Test bestätigen. Das Schwestermodell ID.5 GTX verfügt ebenfalls über einen 77-kWh-Akku, dieser übertrifft jedoch die Spezifikation.

VW ID.5: Laden, Reichweite und Verbrauch
Dank neuester Software-Updates verfügt der ID.5 Pro Performance über eine Ladeleistung von 135 kW. Unter idealen Bedingungen lädt es sich in etwa einer halben Stunde von 10 auf 80 Prozent auf. Der EFAHRER-Tester hat mehrere Male bei etwa 5 Grad Celsius nachgeladen und trotzdem knapp 120 kW erreicht – ein guter Wert. Doch einige Modelle haben inzwischen bis zu 170 kW, was auch für den ID.5 wünschenswert wäre.
Weniger überzeugend ist der Verbrauch: Bei Tempo 130 (gemessen) überschreitet der ID.5 die Grenze von 30 kWh pro 100 Kilometer, was eine echte Autobahnreichweite von 260 Kilometern ergibt – zu wenig für eine so große Batterie. Auffällig ist, dass wir beim ID.4, Škoda Enyaq und Audi Q4 mit der gleichen Antriebstechnologie von 24 auf 26 kWh pro 100 km gekommen sind.
Angesichts des Autobahnverbrauchs schadet es nicht, dass der ID.5 bei 160 km/h Schluss macht. Auch hier kommt er Familienmitgliedern wie Audi Q4 e-tron, ID.4 oder Škoda Enyaq sehr nahe. Viel sparsamer unterwegs.
VW ID.5: Fahrverhalten und Assistenzsysteme
Hier fühlen sich Auto und Fahrer wohl: Generell ist der ID.5 ein komfortabel abgestimmtes Auto, das auch bei sportlicher Fahrweise stets präzise und lenkbar bleibt. Eine gewisse Leichtigkeit der Vorderachse ist charakteristisch für viele Elektroautos mit Hinterradantrieb und sportlicher Fahrweise, und der ID.5 bildet da keine Ausnahme. Auch nicht der Wenderadius, der für einen VW normalerweise klein ist.
Auffällig bei Landstraßenfahrten: Die Assistenzsysteme, die VW in ihrer Gesamtheit unter dem Namen „Reiseassistent“ bündelt, sind sehr hilfreich. In enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Sensorlieferanten Mobileye bleibt der ID.5 auch auf Landstraßen ohne sichtbare Fahrbahnmarkierungen in der Spur. Dies funktioniert über sogenannte Schwarmdaten. Fährt der Fahrer zum ersten Mal an einer solchen Stelle vorbei, zeichnet das System das Manöver auf und meldet es an den VW-Server. Das Weiterfahren gleicht die Informationen mit dem Fahrverhalten des Fahrers ab – bis der Travel Assist sicher genug ist, um ohne menschliches Eingreifen zu manövrieren.
Auf der Autobahn zeigt der Travel Assist, warum er sich vor vermeintlichen Platzhirschen wie dem Tesla nicht verstecken muss: Er beschleunigt und verzögert komfortabel, unterstützt gekonnt beim Spurwechsel und hält automatisch den Abstand zum Vordermann. Der große Unterschied besteht darin, dass das System fast nie deaktiviert werden muss. Der ID.5 fährt sich wie jemand, der seit zehn Jahren unterwegs ist, der Tesla eher wie ein lernender Fahrer.
VW ID.5: Komfort, Innenraum und Elektronik
Auch der Innenraum ist ähnlich komfortabel, ansonsten ist von der eingangs erwähnten sportlichen Optik keine Spur mehr vorhanden. Vielmehr überzeugt das Kunstleder davon, dass das Tier nicht jedes Mal benutzt werden muss, um einen guten klassischen Look zu bekommen. Alles ist wunderbar aufgeräumt, der ID.5 Pro hinterlässt aber keine typische VW-Kritik. Insbesondere wird es sein: Zumindest gewöhnungsbedürftig und aufgrund der fehlenden Beleuchtung sind die Touchpads unter dem Display im Dunkeln nur schwer blind zu bedienen und die Touchflächen am Lenkrad stören. Und es gibt zu viele Klarlackbereiche. Nicht nur Sauberkeitsfreaks geraten bei so viel glänzendem Schwarz in Schwierigkeiten.
Navigation und Sprachsteuerung gehen mir in letzter Zeit auf die Nerven. Selbst mit der Softwareversion 3.2 ist das VW-System „Discover Pro“ immer noch zu dürftig. Die Verarbeitung von Sprachbefehlen dauert unglaublich lange, sodass die Sprachsteuerung nur für einfachste Befehle, wie zum Beispiel die Aktivierung der Sitzheizung, genutzt werden kann. Die Eingabe von Navigationszielen funktioniert auf dem Touchscreen besser, ist aber auch zu langsam. Manchmal drückt man den Knopf ein zweites Mal, das System ist so langsam.

VW ID.5: Varianten, Preis
Den ID.5 Pro Performance gibt es ab 48.970 Euro, ein fairer Preis für das Gesamtpaket und auf Augenhöhe mit Tesla-Modellen mit großen Batterien.
Es ist davon auszugehen, dass der ID.5 Pro Performance bald ein Update erhält: das mit dem elektrischen PassatID.7präsentierte Diskette „APP550“. Hinter dem Buchstabengewirr verbergen sich nicht nur 286 statt 204 PS, sondern auch ein geringerer Spritverbrauch. Darüber hinaus könnte eine größere Batterie mit einer Kapazität von 86 kWh eingeführt werden. Behobene Mängel könnten den ID.5 schließlich zu einem der attraktivsten Modelle im Segment machen.
